We see them everywhere, but what the hell do they mean and where did they come from?
Ferrari:
The logo was first seen on Italian fighter planes flown by the top ace Francesco Baracca back in WWI. Enzo met Francesco's mother after a race who gave the nudge, nudge, wink, wink idea for him to plaster them all over his cars as a symbol for good luck.
He's credited with 34 aerial victories, What a stud!
Well, Francesco didn't survive to see the end of the war but his logo lives on. He was shot down and the plane ended up burnt to a crisp. Ferrari's also burn to a crisp occasionally, coincidence?
Jaguar:
These logos were first originally plastered on their namesake car the SS Jaguar 100 in 1935.
From there, it just carried on generation after generation.
Chevrolet:
It saw the world in 1914 and the story goes that good old GM founder Durant got the idea from some french wallpaper design during a visit to Paris in 1908. That's all fine and dandy until we look at the other side of history involving Chevrolet's namesake co-founder, Louis Chevrolet. His wife said that the idea came from an ad with a similar logo in a Sunday newspaper. We'll let you decide on that one.
I have a strange desire to buy me some Coallettes with my Chevy Cruze for some odd reason.
Acura:
This one's pretty easy, The "A" is actually a caliper. Caliper's mean precision, accuracy, and perfection.
Seems legit.
Audi:
Audi is just a hodge podge of 4 failing car makers joining forces. Audi, DKW,Wanderer, and Horch combined forces and the conjoined 4 rings represent each of those guys huddling together.
Audi is like the Power Ranger's Megazord!
Lamborghini:
Mr. Lambo spent alot of time with Eduardo Miura who just so happened to be a fighting bull breeder. Mr. Lamborghini loved them bulls so much he copy and pasted their faces on all his cars. Bulls are large, ferocious animals that make a perfect fit for the spirit of Lamborghini automobiles.
Subaru:
It's the Japanese name for the M45 Pleiades star cluster in the Taurus Constellation. The six stars represent the six companies that formed Fuji Heavy Industries, Fuji Kogyo, Fuji Jidosha Kogyo, Omiya Fuji Kogyo, Utsunomiya Sharyo and Tokyo Fuji Sangyo. Yeah, I could only find 5 of the companies, but there's a sixth one in there somewhere, but you get the point.
The cluster is actually quite Imprezive if you know what I mean.
Porsche:
It's just a reincarnation of the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Württemberg.
All hail Württemberg!
Infinity:
It's an abstract piece that means stuff. It's seen as a road that stretches to a horizon and infinitely beyond, pretty much a measure of the lengths Infiniti would go to in their pursuit of a superior product with no equal. The triangle also represents Mt. Fuji, because they come from there.
I hope you all learned something from this little snapshot, I sure as hell have!

Volvo stands for I Roll in Swedish and the company originated as a ball bearing producer, dunno what the emblem means but it hasn't changed much over the years.

"The Tata logo stands for fluidity. It may also signify a fountain of knowledge, or a tree of trust under which people can seek shelter. The blue color in the emblem represents prosperity, reliability and strength."
^^err, this represents trust, reliability and strength?!

Im not saying you're wrong, I just know that volvo is "to roll" in Latin. I flipped out when I learned it in Latin class.

A quick google search showed no results for what it meant in Swedish, only the Latin definition that you listed. I know it meant to roll or I roll in some other language but couldn't remember which. Swedish seemed like a reasonable guess.

The emblem is an old symbol for Iron (and Mars, Masculinity etc) and was to invoke an association of the brand with the Swedish Iron industry to mean safety, quality etc.

So this is the most sci-fi manufacturer logo, then.

Least futuristic manufacturer logo ever.

In a roundabout way, the Ferrari and Porsche logos come from the same source. Supposedly, Baracca adopted the horse logo because his family owned many horses after seeing it on a German aircraft flown by a pilot from Wurttemberg.
